Your Website Is CRUCIAL To Your Podcast

It is VERY important that you have a website for your podcast and here are the reasons why:

1 – You control the Experience – With social media’s constant algorithm updates, they hold you and your show at their mercy. However, on your site, YOU control the experience. You control where things go and how long they stay there.

2 – You Can’t Guess If Your Listener Has Android or Apple – If you have a player on your site, it doesn’t matter what platform your listener has. They can play your show on their site. You need to put a player on your website with links to the apps where they can listen. Like this, from We Leave You This:

I like what they did by embedding the SoundCloud player as well as links to Apple, Google Play.

3 – You Can Make The Best Show Notes On Your Website – On your website, you can format your shownotes as you see fit. You can embed videos and posts from social media. You can pretty much do whatever you want. Look at thse episode notes on Sticther from The Black Guy Who Tips:

There are no spaces and no clickable links. Smh… Apple does a better job and so does Pocketcasts, but guess where the best notes are? Shooobetcha….your website.

4 – Your Site Is the BEST Place To Serve Your Listeners  – Run your promotions on your site. Capture email addresses on your site. Check the stats and see your percentage of return users. Sell merch on your site. Tune in to get a detailed explanation of this.

5 – Blog Posts – Blogging isn’t dead. Blogging is still a GREAT way to provide value to your listeners. Your website gives you the opportunity to blog. This is also better explained if you just tune into the episode.
